Born into a farming family in Africa, Oliver completed his education in England. A graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Surrey, he has 25 years of experience in industrial water treatment in the UK and abroad dealing with customers from shop floor to board level. He has worked extensively in steam system controls and energy management. Oliver writes on science, engineering, and the environment.

Outside work Oliver is a keen rugby fan, rows in a pilot gig for Looe Rowing Club and enjoys exploring his local area with an energetic dog. He is renovating a Grade 2 listed home and garden in rural Cornwall
