Overview

Using the Visikol HISTO tissue clearing approach, tissues can now be quickly and easily imaged in three dimensions without affecting the underlying cellular morphology.

To allow for the continuation of 3D histology with conventional 2D histology, the Visikol HISTO approach has been created to work in conjunction with immunolabeling and is reversible.

The Visikol HISTO tissue clearing method uses two distinct reagents, Visikol HISTO-1 and Visikol HISTO-2; Visikol HISTO-1 is used first and Visikol HISTO-2 is used second.

In the starter kit, the five pre-treatment solutions needed to prepare tissue for immunolabeling are combined with 30 mL each of Visikol HISTO-1 and HISTO-2. The user only needs to add the nuclear stains and immunolabels. Four complete mouse brains can be processed using the materials in this kit (approx. 2 g of tissue).
