MEMS-based fiber optic pressure sensor (OPP-M200 PIT encapsulation)

The OpSens OPP-M is a MEMS-based fiber optic pressure sensor designed for detecting physiological pressure in people and animals.

These compact 0.20 mm OD sensors were designed for use in catheters, guidewires, and other devices that monitor physiological pressure in a minimally invasive manner. Thermal zero shift is minimized and moisture-induced drift is prevented because of its revolutionary, patented design.

Bare optical pressure sensors are available for companies who wish to construct their own unique in-house sensor packaging for their products.

OpSens’ new encapsulated OPP-M is integration ready. Encapsulation may be performed on the sensor tip and/or throughout the whole optical cable in a range of materials and sizes, depending on client-specific OEM applications.

Sensor modification to meet the demands of the client reduces R&D investment and integration requirements, lowering overall implementation and production process costs.

By combining Opsens WLPI signal conditioning technology (patent #7,259,862) and the advantages of fiber optic, the OpSens OPP-M meets the medical industry’s needs for long-term precision, reliability, low drift, and high-resolution pressure measurements in the presence of challenging MR, RF, EM, and microwave fields.
