MSci Biomedical Science

Nafisa graduated from The University of Sussex with a Msci in Biomedical Sciences, which is when her interest in Medical Communications developed. Throughout her undergraduate degree, her main interests lied within oncology and Cancer Cell Biology. In her third year, she completed a dissertation looking at HSP90 inhibitors as a potential therapeutic for cancer. Conversely, she wanted to explore a different therapeutic area for her final year, where she completed a master's thesis on predicting Drug-Induced Liver Injury using computational methods. In both of her projects, she achieved a high first.

During her studies, Nafisa ran a personal blog sharing her artwork, photography, and interesting and informative scientific articles. She was also the head photographer for the student-run paper in 2019, plus a member of the writing & editorial team for the science section. Nafisa loves to keep herself busy and learn new skills, so she started a small business selling her original artwork and prints on social media and Etsy; alongside doing private tutoring for GCSE science students. In her spare time, Nafisa likes to paint, scrapbook, do photography, and many other creative hobbies.

Overall, Nafisa loves to learn new skills, take up new hobbies and increase her knowledge of various topics within life sciences. Thus, being involved with AzoLifeSciences is extremely exciting for Nafisa, as she can broaden her knowledge and understanding of different scientific fields outside of her areas of expertise, which is oncology!
