Overview

MatTek PermaCell Cell Culture Inserts are sterile tissue culture tools that are perfect for the 3D organotypic culture and cell growth and differentiation. Researchers have more design freedom when using the 8 mm inserts because of their unique ability to work as either standing or hanging inserts.

The inserts can be used with 6-, 12-, and 24-well culture plate formats and are sold in 24-well plates (24 inserts/plate). For purposes like cell attachment, differentiation, organotypic 3D culture, drug transport/permeability, and imaging studies, researchers can choose inserts from a variety of membrane types.

PermaCell 96-well insert plates are connected to create a single, rigid plate that is appropriate for robotic systems in higher throughput applications.

The 96-well insert plates as well as the individual inserts are both made specifically for 3D organotypic tissue culture and are easily adaptable to TEER calculations and other analytical methods.

Features

8 mm inserts

  • 24 inserts of 8 mm packaged in 24-well plate
  • Hang-top lid for airlifting can be purchased separately for use in 12- or 24-well formats
  • Pore size of 0.4 µm or 8 µm, custom pore sizes available
  • PTFE, PET, PC membrane, and custom membranes available
    • Since PTFE membranes have a high pore density and are transparent in culture, brightfield and fluorescent microscopy can be used to see the cells
  • TEER compatible
