Launched in 2002, AgCode was founded by Minnesota farmer Dion Harste. He wanted to create a solution for traceability in agriculture with a user-friendly interface, and took his initial concept to the World Ag Expo in 2003. There he met his first specialty crop customer: E. & J. Gallo Winery. Dion’s initial solution evolved to serve Gallo’s business, and other wineries and growers took notice.
In 2009, AgCode diversified our solutions to work for an array of specialty crops and continued to develop features based on the specific needs of our customers. As our customers grew, so did we.
By 2018, Forbes named us one of the Top 25 Most Innovative AgTech Companies, and as of 2019, we are lucky enough to serve seven of the United State’s top 10 producing wineries.
Wilbur Ellis’s Cavallo Ventures made a strategic investment in AgCode, fully acquiring the company in 2020. Today, we have over 5,000 global users from specialty crop growers large and small, and teams in Minnesota, California, Washington and Australia. With continued growth and nearly 20 years in business, we pride ourselves on staying true to our mission to create software that empowers our customers to create their life’s work.
