The methacrylated Type I collagen has been generated from telo-peptide intact bovine collagen where the collagen has been altered by reacting the free amines, mainly the ε-amines groups of the lysine remnants as well as the a-amines groups on the N-termini. Almost, >20% of the total lysine residues of the collagen molecule have been methacrylated. The extraction of collagen has been done from bovine hide and comprises a high monomer content.
