Overview

This PhotoGel® from Advanced BioMatrix is a sterile, lyophilized, high degree of methacrylation (~95%) methacrylated gelatin.

PhotoGel® offers 3D hydrogels with the special attributes to be made at different concentrations and photocrosslinked (needs a photoinitiator) to offer varying gel stiffness.

Advanced BioMatrix provides PhotoGel®, a purified and lyophilized methacrylated gelatin for photocrosslinkable hydrogels. PhotoGel® offers 3D tunable gels with the special attributes to be made at several concentrations and crosslinked to offer different gel stiffness.

The PhotoGel® comprises purified methacrylated porcine gelatin (1 gram). The gelatin is known to be a type A 300 bloom. The separate product just consists of methacrylated gelatin. The kits are available with the chosen photoinitiator (separate, as a powder).

PhotoGel® has been generated from methacrylated gelatin where the gelatin has been altered by reacting with the free amines. This is mainly the ε-amines groups of the lysine residues and also the a-amines groups on the N-termini. Almost, >75% of the complete lysine residues of the gelatin molecule have been methacrylated.

The photoinitiator comprises Irgacure 2959 to be formulated in methanol (methanol not included). This enables UV crosslinking of the collagen measuring at 365 nm.
